The Supervisor/Charge Nurse for the GI Lab provides quality nursing care to all patients in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act, and professional regulatory standards. Utilizes the nursing process based on research and evidence based outcomes to meet patient care needs. Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment. Demonstrates leadership skills by directing personnel and establishing collegial relationships with others. Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the mission of the Patient Care Services Division. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies and procedures. The Supervisor/Charge Nurse performs the above job functions, and in addition, provides clinical supervision of patient care and job performance supervision of all employees on an assigned shift. Plans, coordinates and provides for optimum patient care on the unit. Maintains the standards of nursing care as established. Assures utilization of the nursing process based on research and evidence based outcomes. Identifies the number and level of personnel needed to provide patient care and adjusts staffing and assignments appropriately. Evaluates the capabilities of other professionals prior to delegating duties. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelors of Nursing. Active, Current CA RN License.
BLS certification is required prior to clinical rotation. For specialty nursing units, experience in the specialty or ability to successfully complete a training program is required.

Required: Demonstrates effective communication, interpersonal skills, organizational ability, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures and infection control, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of age of population served, and additional skills and knowledge of equipment may be required for hire into some patient care departments.
