The VA Saint Louis Health Care System is recruiting for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists for Surgery Service at the John Cochran Division. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is a valuable member of the Surgical Service. The incumbent delivers comprehensive anesthesia care in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care areas for a diverse Veteran population. Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs the pre-anesthetic patient history and physical, including collection of pre-operative consults and data, to formulate anesthetic plan. Describes the anesthetic risks, benefits, and options to the patient. Administers inhalation, regional, intravenous, local and topical anesthetics. Continually evaluates the patient's physical status and response to anesthesia. Performs post-anesthetic management of patients. Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and medications. Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and protocols related to anesthesia. Responsible for maintaining the supply/inventory of medications used in anesthesia practice. Performs duties in the Operating Room, GI Lab, Pulmonary Lab, EP Lab, and Interventional Radiology. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Weekends, Holidays, Rotating Days, On-Call. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.
