Come join our team! South Texas Veterans Healthcare Services is seeking a Registered Nurse to work in the Endoscopy/GI, Dental/OMS, Moderate Sedation Sites. As the RN, you will provide moderate sedation for patient requiring dental surgery and manage the care for the GI outpatient and critically ill patients. Demonstrate proficiency in using the nursing process, providing care for patients undergoing procedures. Complete the assessment forms including bio/psycho and social, physical, learning and discharge needs within the required time frame and develops a nursing care plan. You will perform pre and post procedure nursing assessments, patient education and moderate sedation recovery. You will maintain physical and emotional comfort as well as to provide adequate patient pain management. Assess and document pain intensity and satisfaction with relieve; evaluates pharmacologic, non- pharmacologic interventions; provides educational of pain management modalities through collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. You will transport the patient safely to recovery, perform recovery activities and document response to interventions, and findings. Flexibility and adaptability to the work environment are necessary to perform the duties of the Endo/GI & Dental/OMS moderate sedation nurse. You will report to the Nurse Manager for the surgical and specialty outpatient clinics and work in collaboration with the Gastroenterologists, Oral Surgeons Pulmonologists, General Surgery Surgeons and with other professional support personnel. You may be required to rotate to other clinics as needed. Willingness to participate in quality improvement and other unit-based committees. The RN must have good computer skills and the ability to interact positively with patients and families. Work Schedule:Part-time Monday to Friday (07:00 am-3:30 pm or 07:30-4:00 pm) days generally, but may include Saturday coverage on occasion. Tour of duty and duty location may change due to patient care needs and must be flexible to the needs of the Service. Rotating Shift, Nights and Weekends Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
