In addition to its hospitals, Duke Health has an extensive, geographically dispersed network of outpatient facilities that include primary care offices, urgent care centers, multi-specialty clinics and outpatient surgery centers.
Summary:
Responsibilities: Perform a variety of manual duties associated with cleaning, servicing, and delivering in assigned areas.
Schedule: Days/Nights 7a-7p and 7p-7a rotating. Weekends as needed by department, but at least 2 weekends/month. Float to assigned unit and hospital.
Dress Code: black polo top with khaki pants
Base Pay: $17 per hour
Work Performed
- Clean and service assigned areas and equipment to include tables, shelves, countertops, refrigerators, stoves, and patient care equipment
- Maintain sufficient stock and supplies in storage areas for the proper performance of these duties; report reorder needs.
- Clean and sterilize bedpans, urinals, emesis basins, instruments, glassware and other items;
- Restock patient rooms with clean supplies and equipment; sweep and spot mop floors in emergency situations.
- Pick up, fold and store linen.
- Pick up and deliver specimens, charts, clinical records, requisitions and supplies as directed;
- Move furniture onwards as required. Escort or transport patients to and from hospital wards, laboratories, clinics and other areas.
- Answer phone and record/relay requests for unit services. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Heavy lifting and the ability to transport stretcher and wheelchair patients to various hospital locations is also required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Work requires completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Work generally requires six months of experience in the hospital setting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. For this role the desire is someone with a consistent work history.
