Registered Nurse RN Cardiac Progressive Care 20K Signing Bonus

Your Role: The Registered Nurse on the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit, also known as 5 South, applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
$20,000 Signing bonus for all eligible new hires paid at 60 days of employment. Rehires that have worked for VUMC in the last year would not be eligible for the signing bonus. PRN and full time rehires are eligible for the bonus after the 1 year waiting period.
The environment on 5 South is supported by a nursing model of care that is centered around the patient and family. The nursing unit is designed to offer safe, efficient, and collaborative practice.
We care for adult patients ranging in age 18 years and older who are being treated for a variety of cardiac conditions including recovery from coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair and replacement surgery, heart failure, heart transplant, myocardial infarction, heart arrhythmias, and cardiac post-procedural care.
Our patients are unique as they may be supported with ventilators and pulmonary artery catheters, requiring advanced nursing knowledge.

Our nurses are successful because they participate in Shared Governance, engage in opportunities for advancement, and are supported through an environment that encourages continuing education.
We orient new nurses to our unit by providing eight weeks of unit orientation, caring for patients with a dedicated preceptor. Clinical time is supported by specialty classes focused on the types of patients and equipment we manage.
Full Time Days 7a-7p (36 hours a week); We offer self-scheduling and schedules are posted in six-week increments.
