This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Preferred Experience: Bachelor of Science in Nursing 2-3 years current RN experience Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience. Note regarding MSN degrees: If your MSN was obtained via a Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration, a BSN is not required. ["The Pulmonary Nodule Registry (PNR) Coordinator will provide safety and oversight for Veterans with incidentally discovered pulmonary nodules, ensure timely follow-up, guide diagnostic evaluation, and provide comprehensive lung cancer diagnostic related care coordination. Maintain the pulmonary nodule database/ registry, providing outcomes data and reporting as requested to the section leadership. Manages the weekly Pulmonary Nodule Conference, curating the agenda, and documenting the recommendations from the committee. Triage and manage consults to the pulmonary section, including pulmonary outpatient, non-visit, and inter-facility consults. Duties include but not limited to: Identify daily via the database those Veterans who are overdue for follow-up of pulmonary nodules and investigate what has happened. Work to resolve these problems and obtain follow-up for those who need it; update and document in database to reflect those clinical updates. Provide regular feedback on the state of and potential improvements for the coordinator position and the database, and look for innovative ways to make the work flow more efficient. Communicate with our primary site, Portland VA, to communicate those findings and help identify solutions. Work with Pulmonology to guide the creation of a pulmonary nodule clinical decision algorithm. Create open communication with Primary Care physicians, Radiology and Pulmonology to expedite care of these Veterans at VA Puget Sound. Aid in creating a chart documentation system for the registry to alert providers to this aspect of the Veteran's care. Work with providers outside of the Puget Sound system to ensure that Veterans with providers at other VA locations or in the community are aware of findings and pursue appropriate follow-up. Occasionally discuss results with Veterans and if needed, help Veterans find a Primary Care Physician with whom the findings can be regularly followed-up. Help create educational materials for Veterans with pulmonary nodules, including education about the possibility that the nodule may become malignant. Provide support to the pulmonary consult service trainees. Manage the trainee staffing levels for the pulmonary consult service, ensuring appropriate clinic capacity and provider availability. Community Care Liaison for Pulmonary and Pulmonary related imaging, assisting Veterans with navigation of the CC system.
