Yuma Regional Medical Center is a 406-bed facility located in sunny, southwestern Arizona. We have a main hospital campus, off-site cancer center, outpatient laboratory services, and numerous clinics as a part of our medical group, including a primary care facility in the Foothills - 41 locations in total.
PreOp is responsible for prepping all surgical cases that come through the hospital, as well as some procedural area cases receiving Anesthesia (CAT scan, MRI, Endoscopy). The nurse is responsible for reviewing and completing a full history and physical of the patient, obtaining Surgical and Anesthesia consent, reporting off any abnormal vital signs, and communicating closely with the Surgeon and Anesthesiologist.
At this time PreOP staff covers call 7 days a week, but after April 15th call will no longer occur M-F, but only on Saturday's and Sunday from 0530- 2100. Call is divided amongst staff fairly and evenly on a rotational basis.
Position Summary: The competent RN has mastered basic technical and organizational nursing skills within an inpatient setting. He or she is skilled in evaluating patient responses and uses past experiences in providing care. Patients and families are viewed holistically, there is a focus on outcomes, and care is delivered using a systematic approach. The competent RN is able to make decisions guided by limited experience, as well as policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. He or she consults with other members of the healthcare team when necessary. At the competent level, the RN can comfortably care for patients in his or her clinical area.
Education Required: Arizona or compact state RN License; BCLS; Advanced Life Support Certification(s) as appropriate &required for assigned department.
Experience Required: Computer proficiency (must be able to pass computer proficiency assessment)
Experience Preferred: Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record or similar electronic record systems.
