The Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (GI NP), through education and advanced clinical preparation, has developed competency in three spheres of influence: the patient/client sphere, the nurse/nursing practice sphere, and the organization/system sphere. The GI NP also possesses specialty competencies that may include specific settings or patient populations.
